Lent Day 23

Ephesians 5:8-11

Live as children of light for once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Walk as children of light for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true. Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness; rather, expose them.

REFLECTION

We become children of light at birth and continue in the light when we are baptized and confirmed in our church.  We continue to try to live as “children of light” and make choices that will please the Lord.  We turn away from ideas and actions that will not please the Lord.  If we recognize something around us that is tempting us to take part in something dark, we will resist and persist in living as a child of light.

PRAYER

Lord, I pray that I continue to see the ways that I can walk in the light you are showing me to follow in my life.  I pray that as I am in this light with you, my Lord, I shall not be tempted to practice unholy activities in my life.

FAITH IN ACTION 

To show meaning of this scripture in action, we can pray for people who need to heal, who need comfort and hope.  We can listen to our Pastor during church services and follow her teachings.  We can help with activities that are for the benefit of others like donating food to the local Food Bank, donating food for a meal at Spooner House, donating items and preparing Brian’s Bags for those in need.  We can also be friendly to someone who seems to need a friend.  We can take part in a fundraiser that will help a group or organization.
