Lent Day 21

Psalm 23:  1-4

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.

He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,

I will fear no evil, for you are with me,

Your rod and our staff, they comfort me.

REFLECTION

This Scripture feels like a warm blanket.  We feel that all is well.  When reading this Scripture, we feel peace and calming steadiness.  We know that He cares and it helps us to feel less afraid.  He has promised that in bad times we will feel protected because He is with us.  He will stay close while always paying attention to our lives even when we don’t realize it.  God tells us what is right and directs us when we feel unsure.

This scripture reminds us that God is constant and dependable.  It shows us that even when life feels confusing or dark, God has not left us and we are being watched over and guided in a caring way

CONSIDER

Where do you look for comfort when you feel stressed or overwhelmed?

PRAYER

God, help us feel your presence when we are worried or afraid.  Guide our steps and remind us that we are never alone.  Amen

DAILY GRATITUDE

Take a moment to name one thing you are grateful for today.

BIBLE NOTE: Metaphors like “shepherd” help us understand God relationally.
