Our Lenten Journey Together
A season of reflection, prayer, and community—walking the road of Lent together through worship, shared meals, and sacred moments.
Young Voices, Holy Moments
Children Leading Us in Worship During Lent
During Lent, we are creating space for our children to help lead us in worship through Young Voices, Holy Moments. This season-long invitation welcomes children to participate in visible, meaningful ways that honor their voices, creativity, and growing faith.
Lent is a journey we walk together — and our children are an important part of that journey.

Why This Matters
Young Voices, Holy Moments is about more than participation. It’s about helping children experience worship as something they belong to, not something they watch from the sidelines.
When children lead, our whole community is reminded that God speaks through voices of all ages.
Ash Wednesday - February 18th
Ashes to Go: A Blessing for the Journey
Wednesday February 18th 7am-5pm
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent—a season of reflection, honesty, and hope. For centuries, Christians have received ashes as a reminder that we are human, beloved, and always held by God.
Ashes to Go is a simple way to receive that ancient blessing in the midst of a busy day.
Instead of asking people to come into the church, we bring the ashes out into the community. Whether you’re on your lunch break, running errands, heading to work, or just passing by, you’re invited to stop for a moment of prayer and receive ashes—no service required, no pressure, no expectations.
Ashes are offered with a brief blessing, reminding us:
-
You are not alone.
-
You are loved.
-
This season is a journey, not a test.
Come as you are. Stay as long—or as briefly—as you need.
This blessing is for anyone who wants it, whether Lent is a long-held tradition for you or something you’re simply curious about.
Because sometimes the most meaningful moments happen right where we are.
Along the Road: Soup & Service
Wednesday February 18th
6:15pm Simple Soup Supper
7:00pm Worship with Imposition of Ashes
Ash Wednesday invites us to pause, take a breath, and step intentionally into the season of Lent. At Seymour Congregational Church, we begin this holy season the best way we know how—together.
We invite you to join us for a simple soup supper, followed by our Ash Wednesday worship service.
The meal is uncomplicated and welcoming, meant to create space for conversation, connection, and quiet grounding before worship. No elaborate preparations—just warm soup, shared tables, and the comfort of community.
Following supper, we gather for worship to receive ashes, pray, sing, and hear the ancient words that mark the beginning of Lent: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
This service is gentle, reflective, and honest—appropriate for adults, children, long-time church members, and first-time visitors alike. Whether you come carrying questions, weariness, gratitude, or hope, there is room for you here.
Lent is not about perfection.
It’s about presence.
And it begins best when we walk in together.
Along the Road
A Shared Lenten Worship Journey
Lent is a season of movement—of reflection, repentance, hope, and renewal. It is not meant to be walked alone.
Along the Road is a shared Lenten worship series hosted by the churches of the Seymour–Oxford Clergy Group, bringing congregations together each Wednesday during Lent for food, worship, and community.
Each gathering begins with a simple soup supper at 6:15 PM, followed by worship at 7:00 PM. Throughout the season, worship rotates among the participating churches, allowing us to experience Lent through different sacred spaces while remaining united in prayer and purpose.
Though locations change, the heart of the series remains the same:
-
A shared table
-
A shared journey
-
A shared commitment to walking the Lenten road together
These services are intentionally simple and welcoming. Whether you attend every week or just one, whether this is a long-standing tradition or something entirely new to you, you are invited. Come as you are. Bring a friend. Bring your questions. Bring your hunger—for soup, for worship, for connection.
Lent reminds us that faith is not just about destination, but about the road itself—and who walks beside us.
Below is the full Along the Road schedule, including host churches for each Wednesday.
All are welcome at every service.
