From Praise to Prayer: A Palm Burning Gathering

Each year, the church moves from the joy of Palm Sunday to the quiet reflection of Lent. The same palms once waved in celebration become ashes traced on our foreheads, reminding us of our humanity, our hope, and God’s transforming grace.

On Sunday February 15th, following worship, Seymour Congregational Church will hold From Praise to Prayer: A Palm Burning Gathering. This simple, optional gathering invites those who wish to step outside together as we burn last year’s palm branches and prepare the ashes for Ash Wednesday.

Worship will begin this moment inside the sanctuary with prayer and reflection. After the service concludes, anyone who would like may join us outdoors for the burning itself. Participation is entirely optional—whether you stay inside, step outside, or carry the prayer with you as you leave, you are part of this holy turning.
